Digging the soil for potatoes |
School Garden - Tuesday 27th March
The sun came out and so did we.With the 2 vegetable beds dug over we began the planting season with potatoes(earlies) and onions.
First we planted 2 drills of 'early' potatoes called 'Duke of York'.
We put compost in the trench before we planted the potatoes shoots facing upwards.
Getting compost to improve the soil |
In the mean time we must keep them well watered and we must 'earth them up' twice when the shoots appear.
Doing it carefully |
Planting potatoes |
We also planted two types of onions - Stuttgarter (white) and Red Barons (red).
